The INECO Foundation was created in 2008 with the aim of improving the living conditions of patients suffering neurologic and psychiatric disorders, their relatives and the population in general. In order to fulfill this aim, the INECO Foundation advances world leading scientific research, promotes the training of professionals, awareness raising and education of the community overall. In our group we value highly the interdisciplinary scientific research in the advance of the understanding of the Brain and its disorders. We have representatives from a large variety of fields and backgrounds, including cognitive neurologists, psychiatrists, neuropsychiatrists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, behavioral therapists, occupational therapists, music therapists, art therapists, and researchers from both clinical and basic sciences, including biologists, physicists, and mathematicians. The interdisciplinary nature of our group is further strengthen by the fact that most members of our group have had training abroad and are therefore aware of transcultural approaches to clinical practice and research. Since its creation, the INECO Foundation has generated more than 350 peer-reviewed publications in the best international journals of our area, using multiple and diverse research methodologies, going from the study of patients with brain disorders to the investigation of normal subjects with complex techniques such as electrophysiology and functional neuroimaging. Our works have been published in prestigious journals such as Brain, JAMA Neurology, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Review Neurology, and PNAS, among many others.
