Fundación INECO

Uno de sus principales focos está centrado en el estudio del lóbulo frontal y de las funciones ejecutivas, que representan componentes claves para nuestro funcionamiento cotidiano. Así, el laboratorio de neuropsicología mantiene líneas de investigación activas en patologías con afectación directa del lóbulo frontal, tales como la demencia frontotemporal, traumatismos de cráneo, y también en desórdenes psiquiátricos, tales como el trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad, la esquizofrenia o el trastorno bipolar. Otras áreas de interés y producción científica del Laboratorio de Neuropsicología involucran el estudio de la cognición en patologías neurológicas tales como la Enfermedad de Parkinson, y otras demencias de alta prevalencia, como la Enfermedad de Alzheimer y la Demencia Vascular.

El abordaje de este tipo de patologías se realiza desde diversas miradas que se integran en un marco interdisciplinario, incluyendo medidas neuropsicológicas, ocupacionales, clínicas, funcionales, y fisiológicas. Por ello, a partir del eje transdisciplinario de este laboratorio, se producen trabajos científicos liderados por neuropsicólogos, médicos, terapistas ocupacionales, fonoaudiólogos, musicoterapeutas, e incluso biólogos y especialistas en neurociencias.

Esto facilita la consolidación de múltiples líneas de investigación que se nutren con el aporte fluido de publicaciones en prestigiosas revistas internacionales. Hoy se reconoce internacionalmente al laboratorio de neuropsicología de la Fundación INECO, por sus aportes en la toma de decisiones y la cognición social, por el desarrollo de medidas neuropsicológicas para la detección de alteraciones cognitivas con alta sensibilidad y especificidad, por sus trabajos pioneros en el campo de los perfiles neuropsicológicos de la enfermedad de Parkinson, así como por las publicaciones en el campo de la Psiquiatría, y la validación de herramientas clínicas para su uso en poblaciones de habla hispana.
